We guarantee your fermenting success!

If your ferment doesn't turn out, we'll replace your starter for FREE!

Our mission is to help you build the skills to ferment with confidence!

Fermenting is a skill that improves with practice and confidence. Factors like temperature, jar type, and your kitchen environment can influence your results. But with the right guidance, you’ll learn how to adapt and succeed—no matter the conditions.

If your ferment fails to develop properly, our team will help you troubleshoot. If needed, we’ll provide a FREE replacement with your next Kultured Wellness purchase.

What’s Covered:

  • No fermentation activity (doesn't thicken, change, or sour as expected)
  • Any unexpected appearance or issue deemed a fermentation failure by Kultured Wellness customer service

What’s Not Covered:

  • Accidental damage (broken jars, spills, or improper storage)

  • Mishandling your ferment

  • Texture changes (separation, grittiness, thickness variations; these are normal and not signs of failure)
  • Taste differences (fizz levels or sourness can vary from batch to batch but still mean the ferment is active)

Each customer is eligible for up to two free replacements.

Once approved by the Kultured Wellness support team, your free replacement will be added to your next Kultured Wellness order that includes any other physical product from our shop.

We always aim to support our customers, but Kultured Wellness reserves the right to assess replacement requests on a case-by-case basis.

Frequently Asked Questions:

My coconut yoghurt was creamy and smooth after fermenting, but once I put it in the fridge it turned gluggy or gritty. What happended?

This is just the yoghurt cooling and setting in the fridge. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can blend it before eating.

My ferment has been sitting for over a week and still doesn't seem ready. Is this normal?

Yes, this can happen. Timing depends on things like temperature and your kitchen environment. Sometimes ferments just take longer to get going. Warmer conditions or using a heat mat can help.

How long will my culture last in the freezer?

Cultures are best used within 6 months of freezing. They may still work beyond that but could take longer to activate.

My culture looks separated after being stored in the fridge, is that a problem?

That's completely normal. Cultures naturally separate when refrigerated. Just give it a stir or shake before using, and it will be fine.

There’s not much fizz in my kefir. Does that mean it hasn’t worked?

Fizz isn’t the main indicator. The best sign of activity is a tangy, sour flavour.
